School Board Meetings

The North River School District Board of Directors holds a regular monthly business meeting on the third Thursday of every month at 5:30 PM. 

Board meetings are held in the library. We will continue to Zoom meetings for those who want to attend virtually.

Lorenzo Churape serves as Board Chair. He received his MS in Agriculture and BS in Animal Sciences from Washington State University (WSU). Lorenzo's interest in education was sparked during his time at North River, Cosmopolis, and Hoquiam. Outside of his school board duties, Lorenzo works full-time helping the farming community in Grays Harbor County. During his free time, Lorenzo can be found doing farm activities and creating memories with his wife, baby, and dog.

Deborah "Debbie" Koehn serves as Vice Board Chair. She received her BA from the University of Central Oklahoma and her MS-Special Education from Ft. Hays State University in Kansas. Debbie has teaching certificates in Special Education and Visual Arts. She has 21 years of teaching experience and also owns a commercial photography business. When she has free time she enjoys traveling, photography, and visiting any beach. Debbie and her husband moved to North River Community in 2012.

Josh Greiner serves as the Board Legislative Representative. The Greiner family moved to North River Valley in 2011. All three of his daughters have attended North River School and his wife Bridget works as a custodian part-time. Josh is a lifelong outdoorsman and has worked with the Timber Industry since 1999. Josh has enjoyed his board position and feels honored to serve this special community.

James "Jim" Banas is in his 19th year of serving on the board. He received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Grove City College and served in the U.S. Air Force as an officer and pilot for 20 years before retiring. He then worked as a Safety Engineer for the Department of Defense for 11 years before retirement. Jim has enjoyed substituting for the district. He values students, the school environment, and representing the community taxpayers.

Michelle Farnell moved to the North River Valley when she married her husband, David, in 1992. She’s taught all 10 of her children and values high-quality education. Michelle values the individuality of each student and desires each to have the best education opportunities possible. During her free time, Michelle enjoys visiting her 14 grandchildren.
